Departmental store collapses in Ghana, many trapped

The picture above shows a multi-storey departmental store that collapsed in Ghana yesterday.
So far, five people have been confirmed dead and sixty-eight pulled out alive.

Ghana's National Disaster Managemet Organisation said the Melcom Store in Accra's Achimota neighbourhood collapsed as a result of structural weakness. The store which was just opened early this year came down shortly before it was due for business yesterday morning.
Over a hundred people were in the building when it suddenly collapsed.

Rescue operations are still ongoing as the workers say they can hear noises from under the rubbles and people's hands trapped.

So sad!
